Section 3 · You asked: "go through our positioning"

Positioning

What you say today, what AI assistants say about you, and the category you're entering. Public data, 16 Oct 2026.

Short answer
  1. You tell two stories under two names, and neither is the one AI assistants tell. Blocky says "theme sections"; Clone.Store says "any store you like, built free in 3 minutes". Assistants either don't know you or repeat a competitor: "the marketing website for an app called Blocky… no AI".
  2. The word "clone" brings a legal frame. 47% of Claude's and 21% of ChatGPT's answers that mention Clone.Store add a legal warning.
  3. "AI store builder" is crowded and has no owner — Shopify's own ChatGPT and Claude tools build stores too. Your defensible difference: starting from the design of a specific store the merchant likes, filled with their own products.
  4. Recommendation: one product, one name. Clone.Store is the AI store builder, Blocky is its Shopify app — one price, and a clear statement of what is and isn't copied, worded within Shopify's rules.

clone.store also contradicts itself

Price"free" vs "$40 a month"
Assistants"works with Claude or ChatGPT" (homepage) vs "runs on Claude" (blog)
Output"a full store" (homepage, FAQ) vs "product pages" (structured data, blog, setup docs)
Speed"In 3 minutes" vs a 20–30 min build on "From popular brands"

Why it matters: an assistant repeats whichever page it reads. Every contradiction is a chance for it to describe you wrongly, and for a buyer to distrust you at payment.

What AI assistants say about you

Asked by name (15 runs per brand, per assistant, per mode):

Knows Clone.StoreDescribes it correctlyKnows BlockyDescribes it correctly
ChatGPT, search on15/1511/1510/156/15
Claude, search on6/153/1511/150/15
Either, search off0/150/150/150–2/15

What goes wrong

  • From memory, they confuse Blocky with Shopify blocker apps and guess Clone.Store is a clone-script marketplace or replica seller.
  • Claude mostly can't find Clone.Store: its search provider (Brave) holds only 2 clone.store pages.
  • For Blocky, ChatGPT reviews the wrong app ("Blocky Fraud Filter") 3 of 3 times. Claude quotes an old 1.8★ (live: 3.8★).

The legal frame and the competitor's story

  • 47% of Claude's, 21% of ChatGPT's answers mentioning Clone.Store add a legal warning. On the open web "clone store" mostly means scams. You have no terms or copy policy for an assistant to cite instead.
  • Dropmagic's page (23 Feb 2026, 4 languages) says Clone.Store has "no AI capabilities" and "a 2.7-star rating". ChatGPT read or cited it in 12 of 129 searched answers. Outdated: Blocky is 3.8★ and the build uses AI. Still true: Blocky's listing says nothing about AI.

Why it matters: an assistant fills a gap with whatever it can find. You haven't published how the products relate, your price or your copy policy, so a competitor and old snapshots fill those gaps.

The category you're entering

No owner in AI answersMore than 20 products were called an "AI store builder", none more than 5 times — incl. Shopify's own free builder. Clone.Store was called one only when the question named it.
Stuffed into App Store names23 of the first 33 results for "ai store builder" use the phrase. The top 5 (Foxify, Atlas, Kluck, Forge, Titan) all have Built for Shopify and 30–375 reviews.
Shopify builds inside the assistantsShopify's ChatGPT plugin and Claude connector "can build a store from a storefront preview". When a merchant asks an assistant to build a store, Shopify's tool is already there.
"Paste a link, get a store" is crowdedAtlas ($39/mo, Built for Shopify, 375 reviews), Dropmagic, Store Launch, Prism, AutoStore — plus Shopify's free builder.
MCP is no longer a differencePageFly, GemPages and Blocko lead their listings with ChatGPT/Claude building. Keep yours as a feature, not the headline.
What's still yours, and checkable

You start from the design of a specific store the merchant likes — not a blank template or a prompt — and fill it with the merchant's own products and brand.

My hypothesis: said the same way everywhere, this gives assistants a reason to name you for "make my store look like one I like" questions. Today you're named only for "copy a store" questions, only by ChatGPT. Limit: Shopify rejects claims like "copy the product information from any website" (1.1.13), so the allowed version is "design inspired by a store you like", never "clone any store".

Recommended positioning

NameClone.Store: AI Store Builder on the App Store listing, "formerly Blocky" in the description. The apps.shopify.com/blocky URL stays.
One line, everywhere"Pick a store whose design you like. AI builds your store in that style, around your own products, brand and copy."
Proof pointsAI writes the copy, store name, logo and palette · templates for an instant start · works from Claude or ChatGPT (MCP)
Copy policyCopied: layout and structure. Never copied: images, text, logos, trademarks. Publish only once the build defaults actually work this way.
PriceOne price, worded the same everywhere, e.g. "Build free. $40/month to publish to Shopify" — if accurate.
Listing rulesNo "copy any store" claims (1.1.13), no statistics or "the best" (4.3.3), no keyword-stuffed subtitle (4.4.1), nothing the app can't do (2).

Why one name

  1. Heads off "no AI" reviews like the 7 Mar 2026 1★.
  2. Answers Dropmagic with the truth — once you say what the product is, "marketing website for Blocky" explains nothing.
  3. Ends the name collision. "blocky" returns Blocky Fraud Filter first; "Clone.Store" has no such collision. Shopify also asks for a name not "confusingly similar to another app" (4.1.2).
  4. One name compounds; two split the effort. Both are near zero in AI answers, and ChatGPT already knows Clone.Store by name.

Why not drop "Clone" too?

It carries the legal frame, but a full rebrand is costly and wastes the name ChatGPT already knows and your creator videos use. Answer the frame instead: safe defaults, a copy policy page and terms. Re-check the warning rate monthly (baseline 47% Claude, 21% ChatGPT).

Don't

  • rely on "AI store builder" in the name alone — 23 of 33 apps already do;
  • use "clone any store" or "copy any store" wording;
  • stuff keywords into the subtitle or put statistics in the listing.

Conditions before renaming the listing, and the fallback if Shopify rejects the name: section 6.
