Section 6 · You asked: "transition Blocky to AI Store Builder"

Blocky → AI Store Builder

Pulls together sections 1–5 and adds the step-by-step transition. Public data, 16–17 Oct 2026.

Short answer
  1. No new AI needed. The AI you already have must be reachable from Blocky, and named honestly. Today Blocky has no AI; the AI build lives in Clone.Store, whose "Connect a store" installs Blocky.
  2. Recommended: one product under one name. Rename the listing "Clone.Store: AI Store Builder". URL, reviews and installs stay.
  3. Three gates first, or the change breaks Shopify's rules and repeats the "no AI" 1★: every installer can reach the AI build · the build stops copying images and inventing claims · billing runs through Shopify at one price.
  4. A new name alone won't rank. 23 of the first 33 results already carry the phrase and the top 5 all have Built for Shopify. Reviews and the badge do the ranking work.

Why transition at all

Options compared

OptionWhat changesForAgainst
A · Rename to "Clone.Store: AI Store Builder"
Recommended
Name, tagline, description, media, categories; both sites say Blocky is now Clone.StoreOne name everywhere. Ends the collision. Matches what merchants get. Reviews and URL stay.Shopify may read "Clone" against its "content copying" ban (1.1). Needs all 3 gates first.
B · Keep the name, add AI ("Blocky: AI Store Builder")Listing copy onlyNo brand changeKeeps the collision and two brands. Listing can't mention Clone.Store (4.4), so the AI must work inside Blocky.
C · Stay a sections appNothing on the listing; sites explain the linkNo policy riskDoesn't meet the goal; "no AI" reviews continue.

Why A: it's the only option that fixes the name collision and the "two products" story together. B needs the same product work (gate 1), so it saves little.

Step by step

Phase 1

The gates (product) · weeks 1–4

1  Make the AI build reachable from BlockyBest: build inside the Blocky admin. Minimum: a first-run "Build your store with AI" screen opening Clone.Store with the shop connected. Shopify requirement 2 (deliver listed features); Built for Shopify 3.1.2 (keep workflows within Shopify).
2  Safe build defaultsNew images, no invented reviews, stats, tests or health claims, AI palette preselected. Shopify 1.1 / 1.1.13.
3  One charge, through Shopify billingStated the same way everywhere. Today: "free", "no cost", "$39.99/month", "$40 a month". Shopify 1.2.
4  Check the cancel flowClear "Delete All Data" wording, a confirmation, an export; then reply again on the 1 Jul review. A rename brings new installs, so settle it first.
5  GA4 on the listingRecord 2–4 weeks of listing views → installs before changing anything, so you can tell whether the rename helped.
Phase 2

The listing · weeks 4–6, only after the gates

6  Name"Clone.Store: AI Store Builder" — leads with your brand, as Shopify's naming rule asks (4.1.2).
7  SubtitleA plain benefit, e.g. "Build your store with AI in the style of a store you like". No keyword stuffing (4.4.1), no "copy any store" (1.1.13).
8  DescriptionThe workflow; sections stay as a feature (protects #45 for "theme sections"); "formerly Blocky". No statistics, no "the best" (4.3.3).
9  MediaThe 3-step flow and a finished store with generated images, plus a 1-min video. Reference-brand photos would advertise the copying problem.
10  CategoriesAdd Storefronts – Other next to Page builder, as Foxify, Forge and Section Store do.
11  Submit for reviewAllow time for approval. If Shopify rejects the name, fall back to option B wording without mentioning Clone.Store (4.4).
Phase 3

Around the listing · the week it goes live

12  Tell existing Blocky merchantsIn the app and by email: new name, nothing breaks, sections stay. My hypothesis: heads off tickets and confused reviews.
13  blockyapps.comA "Blocky is now Clone.Store" page or a 301 to Clone.Store's Shopify-app page. UTMs on every listing link.
14  clone.storeA "Clone.Store for Shopify (formerly Blocky)" page and FAQ entry, plus the copy policy — first-party pages for "what is Blocky" and "is it legal".
15  Ask Dropmagic to updateWith evidence: 3.8★ not 2.7★, and the AI build exists. ChatGPT used their page in 12 of 129 searched answers.
Phase 4

Earn the category · days 30–90

16  Review prompt after the first successful buildShopify's in-app prompt, no incentives. Reviews and the badge both raise ranking; Blocky gets 4 per 90 days, leaders 57–286.
17  Apply for Built for ShopifyOnce eligible: ≥50 net paid installs, ≥5 reviews, minimum recent rating. All top 5 have it.

Risks

  • Shopify rejects the name or copy under 1.1 — use option B.
  • AI wording without in-app AI brings more "no AI" reviews and a policy problem. Gate 1 prevents both.
  • Losing "sections" traffic is small (#45 today); keeping sections in the description limits it.
  • Shopify's own AI builder and connectors compete for the same merchants. The difference must be "start from a store you like", said the same way everywhere.

What I couldn't check

  • Whether Blocky's admin already offers the AI build (needs a dev store).
  • Whether Clone.Store's $40/month is Blocky's $39.99/month through Shopify.
  • Installs, uninstalls and trial → paid.

These are decisions 2 and 4.
